In case you're not aware, it's a Boeing B-29, the American bomber of late World War Two, made famous by firebombing the shit out of Japanese cities, and delivering both atomic bombs ever used in war.

That is the CAF's B-29 FiFi, the only flying B-29 in the world. I assume you live near Denver. http://www.cafb29b24.org/#!home/mainPag…

apparently there is a small airport north east of my house by the river, and during the weekends in summer 2-4 bi-planes fly in circles around the area. Pretty cool to see.

thanks for the link, I recognized it as a B-29 when it flew over, I never knew there was only 1 flying one remaining, far cooler to see in person than I realized :D

The actual B-29 that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, the Enola Gay, is preserved at the Smithsonian's Udvar-Hazy center in DC, near Dulles Int'l Airport. The bomb that fell on Nagasaki was dropped by another B-29 called Bockscar. That plane resides at the USAF Museum at Dayton, OH.

My wife and I recently took a tour of it, when it stopped at a local airport.

Round engines sound great. I always run outside when I hear them.
